Base

  1. Of a power an, a is the base.
  2. The basis of a denominational number system. Normally base 10 is used (counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, ...), but digital systems use base 2 (counting 001, 010, 011, 100, 101, 110, 111, ...). For bases larger than ten, letters are used, so base 16 (hexadecimal) counts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F, 10, 11, .... Also radix
  3. The non-congruent side of an isosceles triangle
