The two quantities involved are called the addend and the augend. The symbol representing addition is +.   The addition of two numbers, a and b in algebra is denoted by a + b. So, 2 + 3 = 5.   When two odd numbers are added together, the answer will always be an even number. When two even numbers are added together, the answer will always be an even number.
